Same with the music. I used to be able to have something tuneful in the background, but these days I find that distracting. Definitely agree with the alpha ways - I find it calms my mind and helps me to focus much better when reading or writing. 📚
Thank you, these are great tips and very clear and thought out advice. I'm definitely going to save this video to rewatch when I start my PhD in September.
A career postdoc is a thing in the UK (in Scotland, at least... my colleague at U. Edinburgh is one). His position may be called something else, though. It took me two postdocs, five years, and multiple relocations between countries to land a temporary faculty position (which also expired eventually). I'm a full professor now. Looking back, it has been a troubling career.
I love indscape
Thank you very much! it's really helpful😆
Mam can u send me ur email
When I was a graduate student once you were told you had enough data for your thesis, they told us to step back from the bench to identify a potential postdoc lab. While it seemed a bit scary it turned out to be blessing. As I was transitioning from the bench to writing I had not only arraigned a postdoc, my NIH postdoctoral fellowship. As a result, I was able to focus all my energy into writing my thesis.
I have two options for PhD supervision.... One university with 1200th world ranking with highly cited prof. Who is HOD and other university lie in top 200 world ranking but prof. Is assistant prof with few hundred citations....both are working nearly on same topic....please guide
Thanks for sharing your experience and answering all our delimas ❤ It feels so good to know that others have similar doubts
Thank you for telling your story about transitioning to Zotero from Endnote. Will you please share how you did it? I use Endnote, and I want to transition to Zotero, but I have over 500 articles. How do I do it? I tried using the import button from Zotero, but it returned an error that it didn't recognize the format. Please advise.
Thank you for a great intro!
Hello, glad i will be defending my PhD thesis tomorrow and just stumbled on this app and video. Its very educating. Thank you
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Thank you
Yeah, further proof that most people are 1d1otz.
The question I'm asking myself is "What language is this?"
Hello, I try to search articles but the documents searching section is not active in Web of Science. so how I can solve this problem
I do that, but I have end up with thousands of files and subfiles, then I will forget about them. So what is the optimal solution?
AMAZING tips, I really loved it hahaha and thanks for the example of the last slide, xx from a Brazillian thankful dude
Thank you so much, this is really helping with my thesis! <3
Unfortunately, I do not have the freedom to be a first author... If I have five publications in good journals as a co author, do I have any chances of getting a post-doctoral position? Thanks a lot
*PhD?* Yeah, don't do it. You've been _WARNED_ !!
Helpful tips, thanks. With God, anything is possible. Jesus loves you!
Now only I started using ImageJ. Can you tell me about the segmentation and reconstruction of the image One more thing I want to ask is if imagej has any function to auto-connect the vessels like the auto-fill function?
Can u attach Word file
i have written a lot of blog articles for research centre I was working, were should I keep those in my CV
Great introduction to ImageJ! I'm currently using it for my PhD, and your video has been incredibly helpful in simplifying some of the things I need to figure out. Thank you so much
Hi. Thanks for your video. I need support regarding reconstruction of 3D image from micro CT. Do you have?
Just realize she was awarded with the Nobel prize last year😊
Thank you for sharing.
I am 💯 % going to use that method of asking the audience for a show of hands to find common ground and engagement for my first talk coming up in April. Really great idea.
After watching some of her videos, I set my mind. No postdoc. I don't wanna be a professor though I managed to achieve a slightly flashy resume by 1yr before finishing my PhD. Plus, I got a 2yr kid. Can't afford such a low-paying high-intense and uncetain job.
Had a phd scholarship lined up. Decided not to do it because the future was so bleak, I knew I would have to move country all the time so wouldn't be able to have a family. Two kids later, I dont regret a thing.
Having worked with a number of PhDs who are seasoned workers in industry, I found them to be actually very humble and great to work with. What was great was just by working with them, could learn so much, stood out as inspiring people, often only finding out they had a PhD once you got to know them, they wouldnt be telling people they was 'Dr', just getting on with the work and it showed thru their excellence.
Cheers for a great intro to what to expect from PostDoc life.
I'm Master student, and happy to watch this type of videos, wish you u already graduated and become "Dr" by this time
is it possible to have bad phd and get post doc easily?
I prefer white back ground
If you feel very expired as a postdoc, please jpin my live sessions youtube.com/@anetaschaap-oziemlak7042?si=3dlUuU2zwa5QvP4O
Great sharing, thx!
Please make more videos.
Hello Vera!
What are you doing now? What is your career?
Postdoc is a f ucking career trap - it will suck you dry and spit you out like garbage when you fail to find tenure tracked position within a decade at most.
Thank you for making these videos. New phd student here. Looking forward more new videos to learn your wisdom!
How many pages so you suggest? Or there is no limit
Hi Vera, thank you so much for your informative video; it's really helpful. I have one question: Can I contact a PI who has not posted a postdoc position and ask them if they are interested in hiring one, or should I just email those who have posted postdoc positions on websites like LinkedIn?
Thank you this is extremely helpful!
Is this the paid version of WOS? If my university do not have WOS subscription, can I use WOS search engine?
PhDs and postdocs are broke folks.😊
